SISU Athlete of The Year for 2004

Club Sisu's announced it's athlete of the year at it's annual awards luncheon. The SISU Athlete of The Year for 2004 is Caltha Seymour!

The Club Sisu Athlete of The Year is presented to the Sisu athlete that has best demonstrated and possessed that special strength, commitment, courage and stubborn determination. To the athlete that has continued to overcome in the moment of adversity and has represented the Club, their team-mates, their family and themselves with excellence during the year.

The inscription on the award states:

"Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise; Risking more than what others think is safe; Dreaming more than others think is practical; And expecting more than what others think is possible!"

Caltha's 2004 Year in Review

  • OTFA Indoor 20lb WT Champion
  • OTFA Outdoor HT Champion
  • Canadian National Championships - 8th HT Canadian National Rankings
  • Indoor WT 10th Outdoor HT 10th New Club Sisu HT Record 56.77m

Caltha also had 5 Personal Bests in 04 resulting in a +13.9% increase in HT, +10.9% in WT over 2003. Caltha was also by far Sisu's most travelled athlete in 04, crossing the continent several times to compete from her home base in California. Caltha also competed in Jamaican National Championships/Olympic Trials.

Unfortunately, Caltha was not present to recieve the award as she is taking a short vacation with her family in Florida after a few days of training with Yuri in Georgia. Caltha does plan on competing at the OTFA Indoor Championships in Windsor on March 5/6.

2005:

Caltha Seymour

Club Sisu's first International National Team member. Caltha threw for the Jamaican National Team at the Caribbean Championships throwing a personal best and qualified for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, March 15-26th.

Indoors:

WT - New PB 17.21m betters previous best set in '04 of 17.03m

Outdoors:

HT - New PB and Club Record with 57.69m bettering her previous best and club record of 56.77 by .92cm
